You can easily reach Thasos Island lying in the very north of the Aegean Sea, by boat. The boat leaves from Kavala seaport, and the whole trip only takes you 30min. People often call Thasos “an emerald of the Greek crown”, it is washed by sapphire blue waters of the Aegean Sea and it is located only 220km south from Thessaloniki.
Thasos is covered with thick forests of pines, spruce, oak and plane trees mixed with olive groves closer to the coast line. Due to this vast greenery Thasos is often called an Emerald Island.
If you buy real estate in Thasos, you’ll have a wonderful opportunity to enjoy its beaches as well as make some exciting trips and excursions. The island has a rich history and most of its archeological monuments have survived. Make sure you book a guided tour to its Apollo’s Temple and Dionise Temple in Pifia. Another good reason to choose Thasos for real estate purchase is that it is the only island not too far away from mainland Greece, so you can easily reach lots of other interesting historical sites of Northern Greece – as well as Thessaloniki airport.
Indeed, Thasos Island is easy to reach. Take a comfortable plane, and within 2-3 hours it will cross the distance between most airports in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, Baltic republics or Kazakhstan and the beautiful Thessaloniki. There are lots of picturesque little towns and villages on the island, such as Limenas (the island capital), Big and Small Kazaviti (both nice spots), Kalirakhi (located at the foot of a hill), Limenaria (a tourist village with highly developed infrastructure) and Potos (a sea resort most popular with young people). It looks like time cease to exist here: most villages respect and keep their old customs and traditions.
Wherever you decide to buy or to construct your real estate, you’ll be able to easily reach other parts of the island. A circle road connects picturesque sea coast villages to numerous entertainment centers, bars, clubs and quiet and secluded beaches.
