You can easily reach Thasos Island lying in the very north of the Aegean Sea, by boat. The boat leaves from Kavala seaport, and the whole trip only takes you 30min. People often call Thasos “an emerald of the Greek crown”, it is washed by sapphire blue waters of the Aegean Sea and it is located only 220km south from Thessaloniki.
Thasos is covered with thick forests of pines, spruce, oak and plane trees mixed with olive groves closer to the coast line. Due to this vast greenery Thasos is often called an Emerald Island.
